History

Armada Park was created as part of the development of Chelston after the war, and a new open space was provided on high ground near Nut Bush Lane. The park was officially opened in September 1956 with a celebratory football match. Armada Park was named after the Spanish Armada in 1500’s. Road names around the park are also tribute such as Drake Avenue and Frobisher Green.
